Admissions For Families

If family support is there, it’s a huge asset for someone recovering from addiction.  It’s an extremely difficult period in anyone’s life, and to have people who love them supporting their efforts can really boost their confidence.

Our family therapy is ideal for:

  • Spouses and partners
  • Parents
  • Siblings
  • Friends
  • Children
  • Guardians and influential figures

Family doesn’t necessarily mean that people are related by blood, so we prefer to involve anyone close to someone recovering through one of our treatment programs, from friends to colleagues.

Families are encouraged to actively participate in the admissions process.   Often the family will provide the insurance or payment for their loved one’s treatment, but the emotional involvement is just as, if not more, important.   People entering drug addiction treatment or a mental health program are often quite intimidated or feeling as though they have hit the bottom; this means they need the support of their loved ones more than ever.

By providing love and support to a family member entering treatment, you are literally saving his life.

Some Things to Expect

  • Our treatment specialists may need to speak with the family during the initial stages. This will help to identify medical, social, addiction, or mental health issues the patient may have forgotten or omitted.  In many cases, it’s a family member who makes the initial attempt to get help for the patient.
  • Visitation and communication. During the first stages of residential treatment the patient’s communication and visitation are normally restricted.   Please ask your treatment specialist to get more details about how to visit and communicate with your family member.
  • Education and Counseling. We offer education for the families of our clients on how to avoid enabling behavior, codependency, and judgement.   We’ll strive to prepare you for the patient’s re-entry into daily life as well.

Think about the major events in your life.   How many would have been possible without the support of your family and loved ones?  Entering drug addiction treatment or a mental health program is one of the biggest events in the life of an addict or sufferer of a mental disorder.  The support of a loving family can take this intimidating process from what seems like an insurmountable task to one that’s merely challenging.

Please call today if your family member needs drug, alcohol, or mental health treatment. It’s that initial act of love which emboldens our clients to get help and change their lives for the better.
